Squish the Fish – League of DYKS Week 15 NFL Picks

Our guest this week in the “Do You Know Sports” picks league (DYKS pronounced DICKS) is Rich “Zeus” Zalusky the talented sports reporter of the Willimantic Chronicle. Zeus is a big fan of the Golden State Warriors and he is not one of those bandwagon fans he actually liked the Warriors when they were a mismanaged organization that screwed everything up on a consistent basis. He is also a fan of the Miami Dolphins so you can be certain he is not a bandwagon fan as they have not been legitimate since Dan Marino and Don Shula were on the same sideline. (This past Monday night doesn’t count either) The Dolphins actually haven’t been that bad as they made the playoff’s twice this century 2001 and 2008. Their last AFC Championship game appearance was 1992 against the Bills. On second thought maybe it has been that bad for Dolphin fans. The current dark days of the Dolphins are at least easier to take with the Warriors winning the NBA title last year and looking like they will challenge the 72 Lakers, 86 Celtics and the 96 Bulls as one of the greatest teams of all-time. The Dolphins can at least look fondly upon the 72 Dolphins and opening some champagne this Sunday when the Giants knock off the last undefeated team this year, the Carolina Panthers.

Our Guest last week Ethan “E$” Wilcox went 5-0 for the guest spot, pulling the guests out of the basement and clinching a playoff berth for the week 17 guest showdown for the right to be a playoff picker. Ethan must of been working the excel spreadsheet with his algorithms and analytics all week to nail his perfecto. He wasn’t alone as Joel “the Joker” Belanger also had a perfecto last week as he moved to third.  Steve Cervizzi Jr. is the other guest that has clinched a spot with his week two 4-1 record. The last two spots for the moment belong to Jay Fitts and Ray Kandolin both with 3-1 records. Johnny Bolduc was knocked out of the final playoff spot by Ethan this week.

James “Greenwell39” makes it 12 straight weeks in first place.

The Giants rode the right arm of Good Eli and sticky fingers Odell Beckham Jr. on Monday night to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Giants now get the last undefeated team Carolina Panthers and try to help some of the Dolphins honored at halftime Monday pop their champagne and keep their record as the last undefeated team intact.

The best part of the Giants attempt this week is every talking head in the sports business that has been all over the Giants for the lack of talent on their roster, their terrible tackling, no running game, no pass rush and poor time management at the end of the game now think the they can give the Panthers a run for their money. I guess Tom Coughlin must be a half way decent coach if everyone is predicting the G-Men to beat a second undefeated team this season.

Jeff “the Worm” Belanger  Last Week 10-6  ,overall 108-100. Joel “The Joker” Belanger last week 10-6 ,  overall 108-100. You can hear all “the Joker” picks on the Jeffrey Belanger Podcast.
