 MLB Picks
Friday June 17th Shawn Dunston .700 Club 21 correct out of 30 games
Rangers over Cardinals (added to replace Gerrit Cole game)
Cole Hamels has been solid and has pitched well vs. the Cardinals in the past. Michael Wacha has pitched better in his 2 June starts than he did in May but the Rangers will be his 5th tough opponent in a row. (Cubs, Natiuonals, Giants, Pirates)
Mets over Braves Matt Harvey looks like the bat signal went up and he responded. John Gant former Met prospect gets his chance against his former organization. He chose the wrong time to face Matt Harvey who is seemingly back on track.
Cubs over Pirates Jake Arrieta had a brief hiccup when the Cubs lost 2 of his starts, it will be awhile before that happens again. Jon Niese was beat by the Cubs earlier this year and he will need to be close to perfect to beat the Cubs and Jake Arrieta. Take the run line in this one.
Yankees over Twins Mashiro Tanaka has great numbers for era and whip in 13 starts this season but only 4 decisions. He will get a decision in this game a win over the Twinkies and Pat Dean.
Tigers over Royals Michael Fulmer is 7-1 and the Tigers have only lost one of his nine starts. Three starts in June he has given up 2 hits and no runs in each game. Yordano Ventura pitched great in his last start vs. the White Sox. This is not a shock he has stunk all season and as soon as I drop him he starts to pitch well. Screw the Royals!
Saturday June 18th
D-Backs over Phillies Zach Greinke vs. Jerad Eickhoff. Two hot pitchers but I like the track record of Greinke in this one. Throw in the fact that Greinke is 4-0 on the road with a 1.54 era compared to his 5.06 era at home sold me on this pick.
Red Sox over Mariners Rick Porcello kind of scares me because he has been up and down after a good start. He has pitched great at Fenway this year and gets the Mariners at the right time. Wade Miley is the reason he gets the Mariners at the right time. Even if Porcello gives up 5 runs in 6 innings the Sox still will win this game.
Nationals over Padres Max Scherzer has improved every month this season and gets the light hitting Padres in Petco. Colin Rea has been roughed up in June and even if he does pitch well the Padres will not win this game.
Cubs over Pirates Jon Lester lost a close game earlier this year to the Bucs 2-1. He has great numbers the past 3 years vs. the Pirates with an ERA below 2. Francisco Lirano despite great numbers versus the Cubs the past 3 years he is a not going to be able to hold back the Cubs. He gave up 8 runs in a loss earlier this season to Chicago.
Sunday June 19th
Indians over White Sox Carlos Carrasco  has been impressive this season. A bit of concern is the 10 hits he gave up in his last outing. James Shields has not been impressive this season and even less impressive since being traded to the White Sox. He is undefeated the last 3 years with a 2.91 era vs. the Indians but that should not be a concern because this is 2016 James Shields.
Rangers over Cardinals Martin Perez has won 5 straight starts and I am going to ride the hot hand in this one. Mike Leake pitched well in May after a slow start turned his season around but the Rangers offense is not what he is used to seeing in the National League.
Red Sox over Mariners There is a saying in life that all things even out in the end. David Price pitched awful to start the year yet somehow kept winning games. In his last 3 starts he has pitched well and lost all three. Time for things to even out for Price with the Marners who have not hit very well against him in the past 3 years with only a .182 baa. Tiajuan Walker has an issue with his foot but expects to start. A pitcher with a foot problem and facing that Red Sox offense. Take the Sox and Price in this one.
Dodgers over Brewers Kenta Maeda looked really good in April but his May made Dodger fans worry. He has had 3 starts in June and looks like the pitcher we saw in April. His only loss this month has been a 1-0 defeat against the Rockies on 6/8. Matt Garza was very fotunate in his first start of the year givein up 8 hits in 4 innings but somehow escaped giving up only 1 run in the no decision.
