The NFL season is 16 weeks long. The MLB season is 162 games long. What would happen if you looked at the MLB standings in 10 games increments as if it was a 16 game NFL season? We will post standings reflecting each team in 10 game increments. A team with a 5-5 record counts as a loss because if a team goes .500 during the season in the MLB they will not make the wild card.
I took the liberty of making the weekly score for each MLB team as if it was an NFL team based on the results of their previous 10 games. (10-0 week would equal an NFL blowout 55-0, 5-5 week would be a close loss 13-14)
Week 11 the 110 game mark of the MLB season.
AL East – The Blue Jays win another week to improve to 7-4. The Orioles fall to 5-6 with another losing week (5-5 last 10 games). When will midnight strike and the O’s return to Pumpkin form.
AL Central – The Tigers with a 41-0 blowout victory (9-1 last 10). The Indians will have the work cut out for them down the stretch.
AL West – The Mariners win and make a three way tie if MLB was the NFL in the West with three 5-6 teams. In reality the Rangers have a pretty decent cushion.
NL East – The Nationals with a big week 28-10 win. (7-3 last 10) They now have a 2 game lead over the Marlins.
NL Central – The Cubs snap their 4 game losing streak in the if the MLB was the NFL standings with a commanding 41-0 victory. (9-1 last 10)
NL West – The Giants have another losing week but so do the Dodgers. The Rockies win again trying to make this a three team race down the stretch.
