MLB Picks
Monday June 27th
D-Backs over Phillies Robbie Ray has been average at best this year for the D-Backs. He did win against Philadelphia earlier this year. This is more of a bet against a struggling Phillies team on the West Coast. Vince Velasquez returns from the DL with a biceps injury.
Giants over A’s Battle of the ugly mustache. The winner is Daniel Mengden of the A’s over Jeff Samardzija. Unfortunately for Daniel he will lose the game. Nice job with that ugly soup strainer and it doesn’t look like you belong on a sex offender list like Smardzija.
Tuesday June 28th
White Sox over Twins The White Sox had lost 7 straight starts by Jose Quintana but beat Boston on June 22nd. This was not because of stellar pitching from Jose Quintana who gave up 8 hits and 6 walks but was bailed out by Bostons imploding bullpen. He has beaten the Twins twice giving up 1 run in each start. In the three previous season Quintana has done well with the Twins only batting .235 against in 10 games started. Kyle Gibson gives me confidence to go with Quintana in this game. Heck even if the White Sox start someone else I will take them if Gibson is throwing. Kyle Gibson has an ERA over 6 this year and teams are batting .296 against him. White Sox stink right now but the Twins are worse.
Astros over Angels (pitching change Feldman for McCullers but the Astros should be ok) This is more of hot team with more talent over a team going in the wrong direction. Astros look to keep climbing over teams in the AL and the Angels are in the midst of a free fall that unless there is a time machine, Tim Lincecum will not help stop the downward spiral.
Wednesday June 29th
Red Sox over Rays David Price was lit up by Tampa Bay for 8 runs in 3 2/3 innings back in April. He will look for redemption for that game and the ass kicking he took in Texas on Friday night. Matt Moore has been bad in June just like the Rays. The Red Sox have also hit him very well in the past. Good chance for the Sox to get back on track.
Indians over Braves Danny Salazar has not lost a start in June. The Indians have lost many games in June either. I would of picked them in every game in this series but I didn’t like how many pitches Cory Kluber has thrown recently and the scrappy Braves might steal one game from the Indians pen. They won’t steal one from Salazar though.  Aaron Blair is another reason to pick the Tribe he has a 7.99 ERA and it’s been rising quickly in June.
Brewers over Dodgers (not a maybe take the Brewers)  The Brewers have struck gold with 31 year old Junior Guerra. The Brew Crew are 8-2 in his 10 starts and one of those losses was a tough 2-1 defeat to the Mets. He did give up 5 runs in LA vs. the Dodgers on June 16th but the Brewers scratched out a win. Dodgers called up Brock Stewart. Steward is another rookie call up for the Dodgers. He has risen quickly this year starting the year in Single A ball.
Cardinals over Royals Carlos Martinez has been awesome in June. He was burned in his last start when the Mariners hit a 3 run bomb in the ninth to steal a win from the Cards. I am staying with that hot hand. A pitcher with a cold hand is the Royals Edison Volquez. He has been so cold he could be confused with one of those wigt walkers from beyond the wall in Game of Thrones. Carlos Martinez has some Dragon Glass to vanquish the Royals and Volquez.
Thursday June 30th
Braves over Marlins (Make sure Julio Teheran is pitching the Braves might make a change) Julio Teheran has thrown 23 consecutive scoreless innings. The Braves have been scrappy the past couple weeks. Tom Koehler has been much improved in June and is 1-1 against the Braves this year. He has only been average against the Braves the past 3 years and he will need to be better than that to beat Teheran.
Royals/Cardinals over runs Chris Young is 0-5 with an ERA close to 10 on the road this year.  Mike Leake is untrustworthy as a starter so rather picking the Cards to win I will just pick a high scoring game.
Brewers over Dodgers (Take the under in Runs) Kenta Maeda gets the start Zach Davies has been outstanding in June 1.64 ERA for the Month with a 3-0 record in 5 starts. He has 36 K’s and only 6 walks to go with a mere 20 hits in 33 innnings. Dodgers are send Kenta Maeda to the hill. He has pitched well despite give up 4 runs against the Pirates in his last start. This could be a great pitchers duel with the beanpole Davies getting the win.
